A Message from the Lord: Rest and Recuperate!

The Lord is My Shepherd

I have been busy since after publishing the last article on March 18. After my son’s graduation on April 2, I was eager to resume writing especially about the dream I wanted to share, but it was even more impossible to do because the children are all home as the school year ended. The situation also affected much of my personal time with the Lord and so I struggled to concentrate on spiritual matters. As I sought God, He seemed quiet. I wanted Him to help me concentrate on writing the things I thought I had to. I sought for confirmation and inspiration to write again. After much prayer, confident that He heard me, I expected to receive what I was seeking about. Instead, just before I fell asleep on April 6, the Lord gave me this message, “R & R, His swift army.” Without opening my eyes I asked, “What does that mean, Lord?”

I went to sleep wondering what the R & R message means. I never heard of that. I said I would check it out in the morning but I forgot. Persistently I prayed again and still God didn’t give me anything until I remembered the above message two days later. I checked what could God be saying though I was not really sure what to find out and if I would find anything at all. To my surprise, however, there is indeed the term ‘R & R’ in the US military which means ‘Rest and Recuperation.’

R&R, military slang for rest and recuperation (or rest and relaxation), is a term used for the free time of a soldier in the US military or International UN staff serving in non-family duty stations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%26R_%28military%29

From the US Army site, this is what they say among others:

What is the Rest and Recuperation Leave Program?

The U.S. Central Command Commander established the Rest and Recuperation Leave Program in the Central Command Area of Operations to provide the opportunity for U.S. service members and Department of Defense civilians who are deployed in the combat theater for 1 year to take up to 15 days of leave during their deployment.

Why was the program instituted?

The program provides respite from the stresses associated with the combat mission and allows participants to focus on family and friends when they return home. This is seen as an investment in the well being of our forces that will improve mission performance.

The purpose is to provide relief to servicemen and servicewomen and DoD civilians and enable them to get away form the stress of the combat mission – if only for a little while. (all emphasis mine).

When I saw it I could only tell God, “Truly you are amazing, Father.” While I thought of going to work immediately as I could get the break, He was telling me to rest and recuperate. That morning before I remembered to check on the message after receiving no confirmation and inspiration to write, I already decided to just relax in Him, read the Word, pray consistently and wait patiently. And I did just that especially after seeing the meaning of the message. So for those who are wondering where I am, this is the reason for my silence.

The Lord gave this message not only for me, but also for His army. This is for His people, His spiritual army. I was not only seeking for confirmation and inspiration to write on my dream but I was also asking Him for further revelation as to what happens next after last month’s events. I could see that people are likewise seeking as I often see the search terms which lead many to this blog. We are curious, eager to know what the next big event is, never wanting to miss anything, never wanting to be taken by surprise. But our faithful Father knows we need more than just knowing what comes next and when for He has already given us so many revelations. We know where the world is headed for He has warned us in the Scriptures and through dreams and visions. He knows we need strength both physical and spiritual to face the perilous days ahead. So, this is what He wants His army to do: Take time to rest and recuperate. Let us refresh ourselves in Him. Dig His Word, take in the spiritual nutrients, drink of the Living Water and be strengthened. Above all, enjoy quiet moments with our Shepherd, reconnect with Him heart to heart. He wants our precious time, our fellowship.

Love in Yeshua,

  1. Amen! Yes, thus message is beautiful. We must be still knowing HE is taking the wheel and doesn’t require our help just our love and praise. I have been given in my spirit a different outlook on things I was once taught and I could not come up with these things on my own. Thank you Father. If you have time and are led go to my blog. lemirecassiedaughterofgod.blogspot.com
    Enjoy your R & R and I will too!!!
In HIM with love and peace,

  2. Isaiah 40:31 AMP

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

  3. Amen Cynthia!! The Sabboth Rest is everyday in the LORD. HE is in control. We only do what HE commands us to do, even if that is to rest and relax. Amen. YAHWEY bless you sweet sister.

  4. Yes! Being led by still waters is extremely important preparation for walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Having peace that passes understanding is a tremendous witness to a chaotic world. The Lord has also quIieted me with His love in regard to the flurry of prophetic study and proclamation He has led me in since Sept. (while I have been in my toughest year of my master’s degree program and have been afflicted with a health problem – it is truly by His grace and strength that I have endured!) I am looking forward to receiving some much needed R&R just as soon as this semester is over! (And am going to pray about whether or not the 15 days you spoke of is a Word to me regarding an extended visit to family I was about to cut down to four days.) I was given a Word and vision last Sunday which, I believe, confirms the Word given through Cynthia. The Word was “Behold, I have set before you an open door which no one can shut. To step into this glorious light is the endurance of the saints.” This came during the Pastor’s teaching on the glory of the Lord, and that the Greek word for glory is doxa – from which we get doxology. The Word is used to describe the kind of sunlight that radiates out from behind a cloud. I saw a roundish door with a brilliant light on the other side. It was clear that anyone stepping into that door would create a sillhouette – giving definition and also direction to anyone who might notice the door and try to comprehend the light. This seems tied to the last intensive study the Lord led me to; which is that of His appointed times, that is, of the Passover, Pentacost, and Feast of Tabernacles. It was during the Feast of Tabernacles in which the chosen disciples experienced the transfigured Christ, and, in fact, the disciples suggested setting up the booths (tabernacles) on the mountain. It is a celebration of the end of the harvest season! It was His glory that was revealed -His doxa – and we are moving toward that time when we will step completely out of the darkness of this world and into His glorious light – worshipping as the multitude of the fruit of the nations, brought to the Lord of the harvest! Even as the farmer who has tilled the soil and planted seed must then wait upon the rains and then the harvest, we need to be still and know that He is God; we need to wait upon Him to have strength when the final harvest comes; because it is the peace of God which will rule in our hearts and show us which door is that open one when the time comes. The enemy appears as an angel of light – a deception, if possible to decieve the elect, is prophesied in scripture – but those who have practiced the presence of God – who have been focused on His glorious light – will not be fooled. We are being prepared to respond to the chaos and lawlessness that is about to come in a way – like the vision of stepping into that door I saw – that will send a clear signal to others that we have that peace that passes understanding – and will step into the glorious light as a final testament to help the lost choose Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life unto the Father.

I have a Son and a Step-son who are both in military. The Lord gives me military-themed instruction quite often. He started this with Psalm 91 … which starts off with the idea/picture of baby chicks being safe under the hen’s wing. Notice, the hen doesn’t go about chasing after the chicks… she bids them to come place themselves under her cover. Jesus said: My sheep know my voice. This is all just another way of showing us that the key – the endurance of the saints – is being able to distinguish Jesus from all the fray, noise, distraction, and temptation of the chaotic world. Knowing when to rest in the shelter of the Almighty is just as important as knowing when to be about our Father’s labor. Thank you for sharing the Word, Cynthia!

Hallelujah! Praise to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”

    • Hi Debra,

Thank you for such an inspiring message. You said:

It was during the Feast of Tabernacles in which the chosen disciples experienced the transfigured Christ, and, in fact, the disciples suggested setting up the booths (tabernacles) on the mountain. It is a celebration of the end of the harvest season! It was His glory that was revealed -His doxa – and we are moving toward that time when we will step completely out of the darkness of this world and into His glorious light – worshipping as the multitude of the fruit of the nations, brought to the Lord of the harvest!

You are correct. I experienced it. I was in Jerusalem in 2011 Feast of Tabernacles. After the last session I went forward to be prayed over by the man of God, a Messianic Jew who was also the speaker. As he laid his hand on my head he declared: “Oh, such a strong presence of God. The glory of the Lord, the Shekinah of the Lord is all over you.” Then he prayed briefly that all doubt and fear in me must go.

I have seen the glory of the Lord first time in 2009 when He came to me and blessed me in a night vision. It was followed by other visitations. I believe it was those encounters with Him that left a trace of His glory in me that was seen by the man. The glory of the Lord has changed me radically for there is nothing else that satisfies me more than knowing that I am walking in such glory with Him all the days of my life. Yes, to me, the world has grown so dim in the glorious light of our Savior and King Yeshua. Yes, stepping into His glorious light is the endurance of the saints. No one who sees His glory will ever be the same.

      Love and blessings,

  5. If what you heard is correct that means we are in the proverbial calm before the storm and all hell could break loose in the not too distant future. It also means people need to train harder physically and spiritually than they have ever trained before. I personally believe it is the duty of every bible believer to train as best they can, even Christ himself said don’t fall asleep lest you miss out on him if you doubt what I am saying just go read Christ’s parable of the ten virgins and then you will know for certain that what I’m saying is true.

    • Hi Goten,

Thank you and I say Amen to your observation. That’s what I sense in my spirit. The fact that the Lord used a military term to convey the message means this is serious. Also, having experienced many literal storms, there is usually a stillness just before the hardest blow. The Lord wants us to be prepared both physically and spiritually for we entering into the time of great great troubles. The Boston incident is another warning of yet more devastating events to come. These things keep me praying and interceding everyday for people to take time to listen to God, especially those who call themselves Christians.

      Blessings in Yeshua,

  6. After my Dad, Don Ayres, told me of your site, I read it almost everyday! I’ve been a believer for many years and I really see the world coming to an end! Hooray for the believers in Christ as we are the winners. I rest in the word and know where my wife are headed and there’s no place better to be. I have some friends who say they have so many things to do before the end comes…I tell them “It won’t matter after He takes us up to the clouds. We will be home to stay.”. When things don’t go as we planned, I just tell myself that someday It won’t matter. He takes the worry away from my heart and mind and I leave it to Him. No worries.

Love to all my brothers and sisters, In His Name,

    Big Dave

    • Hi Big Dave,

Thank you for your kind words and for reading the blog. To God be the glory!

Yes, rest in Him and in His Word for the day is coming when nothing really matters except our standing before God, thus, it is imperative that we prepare for it. God bless, brother.

  7. I agree with you Cynthia and Goten. I said in my post above above that the vision I was given had a military connotation and also is related to the Feast of the Tabernacle. (How wonderful, for you Cynthia, that you had that opportunity to be in Jerusalem and recieve that blessing! My heart so longs to go to Jerusalem!) Both connotations imply a period of intense work to accomplish a goal: a plentiful harvest does not come in apart from work that is done during the hottest part of the year! I was afflicted greatly yesterday after receiving a Word for my step-son at church. By the Lord, I was able to prevail and to deliver the message to this young man who has been making plans, as an Esau, to settle for a mere bowl of stew rather than accepting the kingdom inheritance God has purchased for him. Please pray for his salvation and for me. Looking at some things that have happened since I last posted, it may be that my period of rest and recuperation is over! I have been meditating on a devotional word today that emphasizes my need to trust God through an upheaval of my routines … and I understand all too well that getting comfortable in a routine does not help one “stay awake” to watch.

I too have seen the Lord in glory. Most recently was a few months ago when I was given a vision during church worship and opportunity to “participate” in the throng of multitudes of the nations together praising the Lord who was before us in His majesty. These glimpses of joy are so wonderful! Except for knowing that there are souls yet needing to hear the gospel that I have been sent to, there is just nothing in this world that comes close to the longing I have to run home to the Lover of My Soul!

With prayers for those injured in Boston, I am reminded that we Christians are in a dangerous race as well. To hear “well done, thou good and faithful servant” will certainly require that we have trained well. We will overcome by the word of our testimony and by the blood of the Lamb; even, if need be, unto death. Blessings!

  8. Hi Cynthia and God Bless,
I, too, have been going through a time of silence and rest as a number of others. I was getting worried that I had nothing to write, the listeners are scattering, I need to write for my ministry….”whose ministry?”…I get it Lord….so I haven’t written much for a bit either. Taking my rest and getting things done around here, relaxed, without the burden of publishing. God wants us rested for the upcoming battle, so yes, His Word to you was true. If we could learn to enter that rest at the moments notice instead of wasting energy fretting 😉

    With Love,

ps: congrats on the newly graduated one, more stepping out into life prepared 🙂

    • Hi Dan,

Thank you for the confirmation. We all have the tendency to run ahead but praise God, He is always in control. Obedience is still better than sacrifice.

My son has a long way to go yet. He just entering high school. Thanks, anyway, brother. God bless you always.

  9. This is a very timely message. I am going through the same thing. I haven’t done any hitchhiking since November of 2012, so I believe the Lord is transitioning me into something else. With every breath that we take, we rest in Jesus.

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
    (Isaiah 40:31)

About blogging. I have learned not to force myself to post something on my blog. If I am inspired, I will write something; if I see a post on someone else’s blog, it will bear witness with my spirit, and then I might post it on my blog. Staying in the Presence of God is the key thing.

    • Thanks, Totie. We’re in Manila now but can’t go out with this burning heat. Di na yata ako sanay sa init ng Manila. God bless and regards to the brethren. Hope to see you all!
